Room for Colossalcon

Howdy everyone! I seem to have neglected finding a place to stay for Colossalcon! I’m hoping somebody has a space in their room still. I can of course pay and I’m also more than willing to take stellar photos of you if you want them!

Thank you!

100 Strangers - A Photography Challenge

pedx-ing:

Would anyone be interested in joining Josh and I on a challenge to photograph 100 strangers in 100 days? One new photo a day~ We plan to start in July or so and work our way from there! It would be nice to have others join us so that we can take a look at each other’s work, and look forward to each new photo.

Everyone of any skill level is welcome to join~! Point and shoot camera, camera phone, DSLR, any type of photo taking equipment you’re comfortable with! The goal is to have fun, get out there, and meet some interesting strangers!

If enough interest is made, we can make a group tumblr to have an organized place for everyone’s photos.

Join us! It will be fun!

A Follow Up to my Previous Colossalcon Post

Well my post has been up for a day now and I honestly had no idea it was going to get this big. I intended it not as a ‘Oh boo hoo, people are mean to me’ but more to call attention to the behaviour of someone who was professing to represent a con. Looking back, I realize I could have approached it in a better way.

I will explain what I mean as soon as I get a few things out of the way:

1. I do not want any form of compensation from the con nor was I seeking to get into the con without buying a pass.

2. I was also not seeking to sell any kind of a service while at the con itself. My shoots are booked in advance. I do not take random pictures of people at the con and demand money from them.

3. I bear no ill will towards anybody in this situation. Please do not think badly of the con because of this. The actions were those of one person and were probably a result of miscommunication and nothing more.

When this whole situation happened it was at about 12 in the morning. I had just got done working a ten hour shift and my head was probably not as clear as it should have been when responding to this. I should have slept on it instead of immediately throwing it on Tumblr

Taking that into consideration and looking back I realize I should have been a bit clearer with what I was saying and what I was planning to do about it. Now that Colossalcon has updated a policy regarding photo shoots hopefully situations like this can be avoided in the future. I encourage anybody with a stake in this to email the people at Colossalcon and help them in this process to make sure they get a good policy dedicated to the protection of both the Photographer and the Cosplayer.

Answers to Asks

You totally should! I’ll be at other cons this year too. So feel free to contact me.

Well, Colossalcon has now posted a photo shoot policy on their site so that helps matters immensely! you can find it {Here} if you are interested. In the meantime they are asking that people contact them if they have any ideas about how photographers should be treated and what policies should be set forth in the future. If you could do that it would help a lot I believe! Feel free to come off anon and send me a message if you want to discuss it in more detail!

Head of Press of Colossalcon is Against Paid Private Photoshoots!

Let me start by saying that everyone has the right to disagree with paid photoshoots. I understand it is a touchy subject with some people. However, when somebody not only besmirches my character, but also threatens my livelihood that’s where I draw the line.

I will be circulating a formal letter of complaint among the photographers and anyone else who wants to sign it at Colossalcon this year. it would make me extremely happy if you participated! We need to stand together on this because it would be extremely unfortunate for not only the photographers, but the cosplayers as well if nobody is able to get nice images of their cosplays next year!
